Which launch monitor metrics are actually measured, and which are calculated? Far fewer are directly measured than spec sheets imply — and only some manufacturers say which. Rapsodo is the most transparent: of the MLM2PRO's fifteen listed metrics, exactly eight carry a "(measured)" badge on Rapsodo's own spec list — ball speed, club speed, launch angle, launch direction, club path, angle of attack, and (only with marked RPT balls) spin rate and spin axis. The other seven — smash factor, carry distance, total distance, descent angle, apex, side carry, shot type — are listed with no measured badge. SkyTrak publishes a sensor-level split: ball data comes from its photometric cameras, while club data (club head speed, smash factor, club path, face angle) comes from its Doppler radar. Garmin and Voice Caddie publish their metric rosters and sensor type — Doppler radar for the R10, SC4 Pro, and SC300i; internal cameras for the R50 — but no per-metric measured-vs-calculated split at all. What the pattern means for buyers

Two practical takeaways fall straight out of the manufacturers' own language. First, spin is the dividing line: the only device in this index whose maker explicitly claims measured spin is the Rapsodo MLM2PRO, and only with RPT balls — every radar-only unit lists spin rate without saying how it's produced. If spin numbers drive your practice (wedge work, fitting curiosity), that distinction matters more than any accuracy percentage in an ad. Second, club data and ball data can come from different sensors in the same box — SkyTrak attributes ball flight to cameras and club delivery to radar — so "camera vs radar" isn't a clean either/or when you compare spec sheets.
